Tell Us A Little Something About Yourself
I have some mad baking skills and have decided to put that passion into making awesome treats for puppers! I make a pretty mean human cake too.
What Inspired You To Start Your Own Business and What does your journey look like?
I was working a casual job and was looking to earn some extra money, but wanted to be doing something that I loved. I also have a lot of fur nieces and nephews and wanted to make wholesome treats for them with no nasties. I have gained the nick name "The Treat Lady"
What Does Your Business Offer, And What Makes It Unique?
I offer homemade, delicious, all natural dog treats. My signature products are my Doggo Birthday cakes and Pupcakes. Small doggo sized cakes to help your pupper celebrate their special day.
What does your Journey Look Like?
I have always had a passion for baking. I adopted a rescue pooch about 8 years ago and she gave me the inspiration to start the dog treat journey. It started small, making treats for my family and friends pups. I started the instagram page with just the treats and then someone messaged me about making a cake for their dog, and I thought, yeah I can do that! The business is still in it's early stages and is still growing but I'm loving every minute of it.
Did You Always Think You'd Be Doing This?
I never thought I would be doing this, and I still kind of class it as a side hustle. I would love for it to become my main thing. Growing up i wanted to be a number of things, a vet or a nurse to name a few, but I never thought of being a Treat Lady for doggos!
What Are The Most Rewarding And Challenging Parts Of Your Job And Owning Your Own Business?
I love to see the pictures that my customers send me of their puppers enjoying their cakes and treats. A small business is always challenging, I think one of the hardest things is getting yourself seen and known. It takes lots of work and lots of hours and sometimes you feel like it's going nowhere. Then you gain a new customer or someone new follows you or comments on your posts and it makes you smile and makes it all worth it.
Whats Your End Goal? The Moment You'll Know You've Achieved What You Want To?
I think that moment for me will be when I'm a personal treat lady for Lady Gaga's pooches.. ha ha! Seriously though, I think my moment will be when I can hang up my retail apron, and making treats and pupcakes is my fulltime job.
